The background tabs on Thunderbird Daily are invisible/see-through
(Windows 7). I hope that wasn't intentional. It makes them hard to
discover or see. (I know the new tabs are still work-in-progress. Just
consider this a "heads-up")
BTW: I also noticed that when there are two background tabs next to each
other, that there is a vertical dividing line between them. That
straight line looks very out of place because the tabs area and tabs'
contours are now rounded.

This is part of the Australis visual redesign [1] and the intention is
that the tabs will work similar to those in Firefox [2].

Thanks for the info. I have to say that I don't like the invisible tabs
as currently implemented. The background tabs are too hard to see, the
text is too obscured by the Windows Glass (not enough contrast) (yet?),
and the vertical line is a too stark contrast to the curves tabs.
