Thunderbird needs more add-on reviewers/editors. Right now there are
only a few add-on editors who know the Thunderbird code.
As we approach TB3 there will be a number of add-ons updating to the new
code and hopefully a number of new add-ons taking advantage of the
changes that have been made.
In order to help respond to this we need more add-on editors prepared to
review TB add-ons. If you're interested, take a look at the Editor's
guide for some requirements to becoming an editor.
https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO:Editors/ReviewingGuide
If you want to become an editor follow the instructions at this link.
https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO:Editors/Applying
If you're a module owner you can skip the step of testings sandboxed
extensions however you should take some time to play around with the
site and get comfortable with it.
Make sure to cc me on your application ( clarkbw at gnome dot org ) as
the person who invited you so I can help your application through if
it's appropriate.
Thanks,
~ Bryan
Time to bump this up!
There was an overwhelming response of people to this first post (back in
June) saying yes they want to be reviewers. (overwhelming if silence
means yes) In other words I'm still the only Thunderbird-only reviewer
at AMO.
While the AMO staff is picking up our slack right now they aren't going
to be able to keep up with the number of add-ons updating to the latest
code.
Because Thunderbird 3.0 is out the door it's even more important that we
get more reviewers registered as add-on reviewers. The application
process is fairly quick. If you have commit access to comm-central just
ping me on IRC for some fast path application instructions.
Thanks!
~ Bryan
to put this in concrete perspective, what's current review backlog
count, including items already in review, but not yet approved?
commit access is not needed to do reviews, correct?

Guard us from the she-wolf and the wolf, and guard us from the thief,
oh Night, and so be good for us to pass.
It changes on a daily basis. In the last couple of months several
mail-qualified editors have been added, including myself, David Ascher,
asuth, and Axel Grude. With this, the queues are in much better shape
than before.
There are 4 TB / non-FF extensions awaiting update approval, with a
median time-in-queue of 2 days. There are 15 TB / non-FF extensions
awaiting initial approval for public, with a median time-in-queue of 10
days.
rkent
slightly more detail from Archaeopteryx ...
13 Thunderbird add-on updates (6 are Thunderbird-only), maximum age 7 days
28 Thunderbird add-on nominations for public (14 are Thunderbird-only),
most are younger than 10 days
so the queue has improved. but more reviewers are needed?
Certainly the more reviewers the better. It's good to see we already
have a lot more TB reviewers to help with the current load.
Thanks to everyone who has applied and is helping out. As Firefox will
be doing more and more frequent releases there will be even less time
available from the rest of the AMO staff to help us out as they have been.
