I'm not a developer, but I found this page with google :
<http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_About:config_Entries>

I also think that Seamonkey 2.0 is really better than Seamonkey 1.1!

The source code. That's not a smart-ass answer, I don't think there's anywhere
else which covers the meaning of not only all the things you can see, but all
the things you can define if you right click and select "new." See the "TVguide"
thread for a case of knowing what string value to create, don't know how you
would ever find that except in the source or my five year collection of
SeaMonkey tricks (now with a whole new SM2.x section.

You can Google, and read some things in mozillazine, but in general those
sources are incomplete.

A request for a dictionary of preference variables is in bug #178685.
But the developers definitely don't like the idea of users having this.
They want to keep this information confidential.

I understand they even removed about:config from Firefox. (Not having
ever installed Firefox, I don't know this for sure.)

See <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178685>.

Go to Mozdev at <http://www.mozdev.org/> for quick access to
extensions for Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, and other
Mozilla-related applications. You can access Mozdev much
more quickly than you can Mozilla Add-Ons.

If you don't know for sure then why even make the statement?
about:config certainly works just fine for me in Fx 3.5.4.
