We're preparing SeaMonkey 1.1.17, our next regular security release for
the SeaMonkey 1.1.x series, with the same base as Thunderbird 2.0.0.22,
planned for going public early next week.
A number of security and stability fixes went into this release, see
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?keywords_type=anywords&keywords=fixed-seamonkey1.1.17%2Cfixed1.8.1.22%2Cverified1.8.1.22&product=Core&product=MailNews+Core&product=SeaMonkey&product=Other+Applications&field0-0-0=keywords&type0-0-0=nowords&value0-0-0=fixed-seamonkey1.1.16>
(note that you may not be able to see all security bugs yet, some will
only go public once Firefox 3.0.11 is released), we need good testing of
the candidate builds to avoid shipping regressions.
Please help testing our SeaMonkey 1.1.17 candidate builds
<http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/candidates-1.1.17/>
- preferably via performing the smoketests from the, please go to and do
a SeaMonkey 1.1 test run
<http://litmus.mozilla.org/run_tests.cgi?test_run_id=11> on
<http://litmus.mozilla.org/>.
Once we have verified that the builds work well, we can release this
security-enhanced version to all our users as scheduled.
Thanks for your help,
Robert Kaiser

In one of my mail accounts (xxx) I have more than one 'identity' (xxx1
xxx2, xxx3). For these other 'identities' in their "Copies & Folders"
settings I have all options in 'Place a copy' and "Keep message..." set
to the folder in the main account (xxx). They do not appear there.
They appear in the 'Local Folder' account.

That's not the release candidate, so why do you post in this thread?

We haven't changed anything in that code in 1.1.x, does this happen with
1.1.16 as well?
Robert Kaiser
Sorry - thought I had the release candidate.

Now, I have the correct one. To answer questions:
No, this did not happen in 1.1.16
No, this is not happening in 1.1.17 release candidate Mozilla/5.0
(Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.22) Gecko/20090605
SeaMonkey/1.1.17
Perhaps I had something set that I shouldn't have when I loaded the
1.1.17pre? I don't know. I don't remember changing anything that would
have affected the mail settings. I just went back to 1.1.16 with a full
install to check it and then went to 1.1.17 with a full install so I
would assume all the pref files were the same. I can't explain the
happenings.

Maybe you enabled the setting Global Inbox (LOcal Folders) in account
wizard while creating the account.
Go to menu Edit --> Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings... --> Server
Settings --> In the right pane to button: Advanced
Then you will see a window with 3 options. The 2nd option is Global
Inbox (Local Folders) or similar. This option has the effect that your
accounts will appear unter Local Folders. Use the 1st option instead.
Further investigation shows that somewhere along the line I added two of
the other identities, xxx2 and xxx3, as identities to one of the
newsgroups I subscribe to. Those were set to go to "Local Folders".
Cockpit error as I should not have set those up for a newsgroup to begin
with. It's weird that I never used those particular identities before.
Perhaps for us old folks that don't see to well anymore the assignment
of identities could be in color rather that in light, faded type when
selecting one from the list?

He who laughs last, didn't get the joke.
Seems to work under Linux doing my daily work with various extensions
(old calendar, enigmail, prefbar, livehttpheaders).
Ciao, Michael.
Working without issues here.
SeaMonkey 1.1.17
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.22) Gecko/20090606
SeaMonkey/1.1.17
I'll try and run a smoketest later this evening.
A strange one here. On restart after updating, NoScript complained it
wasn't properly installed. I've re-installed it, and it is now missing
with no error message on startup.
Going to try removing NoScript completely and re-installing it.
No issues installing & running via Win2Kpro on a VirtualBox VM.
SeaMonkey 1.1.17
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.22)
Gecko/20090605 SeaMonkey/1.1.17
Tried that, no luck at all. Never had any problems like this before.
I updated NoScript a few days ago in 1.1.16, and have restarted the
browser several times since then, so it's something to do with 1.1.17.
I've gone back to 1.1.16 and still no NoScript. I've tried a new
profile, including installing NoScript separately into that. Still
nothing. The is WXP SP3, BTW, with todays MS fixes applied.
Does that version of NoScript report that it's compatible with SeaMonkey
1.1.x?
Robert Kaiser
"Supported browsers: Firefox 1.5.0.6 and above, SeaMonkey 1.0.5 and
above, Flock, IceWeasel, Minefield
Other browsers based on Gecko 1.8.0.6 and above might work, but are not
tested."
And, the same version worked with 1.1.16 before I installed 1.1.17.
I just can't get it to work at all now. Removed NoScript with Mnenhy,
uninstalled, then completely removed Seamonkey's program directory,
removed xul.mfl, cleaned out the mnenhy backups from the profile
directory, emsured noscript was no referenced in the rdf files,
re-installed 1.1.16, used a new profile, installed NoScript, Mnenhy says
NoScript is installed: but still nothing.
I don't know what else to try (apart from restoring Seamonkey's
directories from a backup.)
I just installed a development build in 1.1.16. NoScript is back.
Nothing in the change log which directly address this issue, however
there is this:
v 1.9.3.6
=====================================================================
+ Improved Google Analytics script surrogates
+ New Imagefap anti-popup script surrogates
+ Seamonkey 1.x streamlined installation process (profile local
installations are not supported anymore, but switching to
browser-wide is automatic on update)
+ Seamonkey 1.x automatic uninstall procedure (button provided in
NoScript Options)
Reading between the lines, I'd say that there was some problem with
profile installs that he decided not to fix. Maybe if I'd done a global
install I wouldn't have had the problem in the first place. I will now
upgrade to 1.1.17 again.
I just upgraded to Seamonkey 1.1.17 again, and all is well with
NoScript. The development build of NoScript I installed to solve the
problem was v 1.9.3.92.
Noscript 1.9.3.3 works for me with SM 1.1.17.
Regards,
Michael
Is it installed in a profile, or globally?
Globally. But I installed Noscript 1.9.3.3 in a profile now as well and
there isn't any issue, either. I think your original installation of
Noscript 1.9.3.3 failed only for any reason, I don't think that there is
any conflict between SM 1.1.17 and Noscript.
Passed smoketests. I did notice the spelling dictionary language was
blank. This with a new profile in a virgin user account. Seems like
I've seen this before, but was not able to find a bug...
Ready to update
<http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/seamonkey.html>
as soon as I see 1.1.17 launch.

SeaMonkey - Surfing the net has never been so suite!
We still seem to be missing Windows and Linux results on Litmus, Mac OS
X looks good, though.
Robert Kaiser
Done in linux.
- imap not run: no imap account.
- uninstall not run (silly to have it in linux when all you are doing is
deleting the directory).
> No issues installing & running via Win2Kpro on a VirtualBox VM.
Hi,
Just in case, would you know how to get a W2K license (nowadays), for
Bug 488847 – Allocate a Windows 2000 VM, for tier-2 (unit test) monitoring
?
Thanks.
Thanks to you and to w3bnr on Windows, we now have those results in
addition to the Mac ones rbgray already did on Sunday, so we have all
platforms reasonably covered, and everything is green! Woo-hoo!
Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 is currently scheduled for next Monday, we'll
probably sync up with them for the actual release, but we are good to go
for creating contributed builds from the official ones now. :)
Robert Kaiser
Although not asked for in the litmus testing, I have also verified that
digital signature and digital encoding of e-mail passed testing without
problems.

Best bet is to check web:
<http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Professional-Upgrade-VERSION/dp/B00003JAU7>
or a local software dealer. Just make sure that you get an actual legit
CD. The reason why I like running Win2KPro in a VM is that I don't have
to fuss with the M$ checkbots. Only problem is that you can't test
WinXP+ only programs (silverlight etc).
Your local Mozilla folks should be able to find you one; if not, let me
know & I'll try to hunt one up for you.
You should check the OEM, but I think you can use any valid license (in
use in a real machine) and use on the VM.
Vista OEM disallow explicitly the use of VMs, but neither XP or 2000
does this.
