What is the state of affairs of Firefox 2 on Windows Vista RC1? I
installed beta2 of Firefox 2 on Windows Vista RC1 a couple weeks ago,
and today I let Firefox 2 download the update from beta2 to rc1 as an
Administrator on the system. All went fine, and I followed Firefox's
advice to restart the browser but nothing changed. It still said Beta
2, in the title bar and the About dialog. In the Update History it
lists the update to rc1 as 'Install Pending'. I rebooted the system,
and tried all manner of different accounts / logging in and out to no
avail.
I finally got Firefox 2 rc1 on Vista by simply reinstalling it, and
then afterwards removing beta2 because it was listed alonside rc1 in
the Program Manager.
When I do install Firefox 2 as a beta2 or rc1 it will ask me do I want
to continue, which I figure it should also ask if I were to do an
update for Firefox 2 (but it doesn't). Is this a UAC problem, or some
kind of Vista permissions thingy?
Benjy
PS: Other than that Firefox 2 running smoothly on Vista.

Is the failure to update from beta2 to rc1 on Vista known? I couldn't
find it before when I did a search of the bugzillas.

Will Vista support slowly make it's way into Firefox 2.x, or is it
more scheduled for Firefox 3? Or both?

Please file bugs on items that don't already have bugs.

Firefox 2.0.0.x support is being evaluated as we make progress with
adding support for Vista. Support on Firefox 3.0 is a given IMO
mozilla.support.firefox on this server, is for Firefox user support.
