Japanese IM crashes using Firefox 3 on OS X 10.5

Hi,
I filed a bug on crash of Japanese input when using Firefox back in January
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407381)
but apparantly it hasn't been able to be confirmed by anyone at Mozilla.

However, I still see this in the latest OS X 10.5.2 with nighly builds and
atleast one other person has experienced the same bug (
http://bugzilla.mozilla.gr.jp/show_bug.cgi?id=6005).

I saw this on two separate Mac machines (PowerPC and Intel Mac) using fresh
profile, and I'm almost certain it is a bug.
This is a major show stopper for people who use Japanese IM and enough to
make them walk away from Firefox.
It really worries me that the bug is left "unconfirmed."
What do I need to have this changed to "new"?
