Users to a web site that I maintain have reported that when they view
the site and click on a link within the site that the requested page
shows up momentarily and then the browser screen goes to a blank white
page. The site itself has not changed in at least 1 month. IE and
Safari users have not reported any problems.

Anyone else seeing something like this? A simple google search found
numerous other people with similar issues.

People reporting this issue to me were on the following systems:
Firefox 3.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.4.11
Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.1 on some version of Ubuntu

Thanks

Have you had them try Firefox Safe mode to eliminate extensions
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode

I don't know if AVG runs on other than Windows or not, but that sounds
like having the extension "AVG Safe Search" for more information see
"Problematic Extensions" http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions
It is almost silently installed with an update to AVG Free 8.0 the option is
Live search, you can disable extension but not uninstall so you need the
Grisoft directions linked in the above article

If this is for hotmail, try deleting all hotmail.com, live.com,msn.com cookies and
allowing same. Immediately after can access hotmail (though very slow) and
generated cookies for h.live.com, p.live.com, login.live.com, mail.live.com .
You want to use classic hotmail.

HTH,
David McRitchie, extensions I use are briefly documented on my site
Firefox Custom: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/firefox.htm

I have no extensions installed. I am also on a Mac so I don't have the
AVG stuff installed. I just ran in safe mode and the same problem
occurred. I know there are some W3C validation issues (which have
existed since May and didn't cause earlier FF versions to have such a
problem as 3.0.1 seems to) but you can view the app here:
http://www.mybeernotes.com/. Click on a recipe, such as the "Belgian
Beaver," and the problem should occur (unless the problem is somehow
related specifically to my machine as well as the machines of a few of
my users).

Thanks

I suspect this might be related to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=444322
Please file a bug on this.
A minimized testcase would be awesome.
