Today I read that Thunderbird and Lightning will be used in the
French government for about 130.000 users.

Maybe this helps to get more attraction and contributors to
Lightning (and Sunbird)? Anyone got more information on this topic?

What kind of information are you looking for? I know about it, but I
don't know much in the way of details.

A detailed description what needs to be done to keep Sunbird alive is
missing from
http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/calendar/2009/08/how_to_save_sunbird.html
- people are more likely to opt-in on defined tasks. (I.e. what has to
be hidden and what modified to make Sunbird a Calendar-only Thunderbird.)

For Sunbird to survive it needs a strong owner.

Anyone who is not able to either find out these quetsions by himself
*OR*
by asking the current project members (which have repeatedly stated that
they are more than willing to help any newcomer) is not a strong owner
in my view.

As well as a General you also need soldiers.

"Note however you don't necessarily have to do all of this on your own.
Depending on how many people are interested in actively working on
Sunbird it's quite possible that you can split the work similar to how
we've been doing it"

Someone may want to work in one area but may not have the necessary
skillset to be a module owner.

The problem is that we have neither.

Well, if it takes weeks to months to get only unclear answers from the
existing team member(s) then you are not going to attract new people.

Can you name some examples?

I think that Philipp has been really helpful in all the instances that I
was able to witness things.
