Update on mozpad outreach plans

to send an update to the group. I had approached him with an idea to
create a site dedicated to promoting XUL applications, but after
talking it seems that a whole site isn't really needed right now.
His suggestion was to instead create a section on mozilla.org or
expand the current Projects section on mozilla.org to post information
about all of the available XUL applications. Having Joost and Miro
(for example) listed on mozilla.org along with Sunbird and Camino
would build trust in the platform since these applications would be
seen to be officially part of the community.
There is currently a discussion going on about updating the content on
mozilla.org and making it more relevant to the community, so this
outreach plan could fit in well with that. If people here think this
is a good idea, feel free to post your ideas to the following

Updating the project list sounds like a great first step for me. The Map
of the Mozpad Universe
(http://www.mozpad.org/doku.php?id=map_of_the_mozpad_universe) could be
a valuable resource for this.

There were originally four points in your outreach plan:
* create a 'featured XUL Applications' section... this already exists at
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/XULRunner_Hall_of_Fame but I'm not
opposed to integrating it somehow with the www.mozilla.org projects page.
* Create an AMO-like XUL applications repository. This is obviously not
possible on www.mozilla.org which is a static website
* Have a XR logo creation/naming contest.
* Discuss consistent language to describe mozpad (no website needed, yet)
Unless they are planning on running mozilla.org using a wiki instead of the
current CVS access controls, I don't think we should be trying to put
significant mozpad web content on www.mozilla.org. The barrier to entry in
the outreach website should be as low as possible.

Agreed. I'm only suggesting that we link to available XUL
applications from www.mozilla.org and don't think we need to move over
any other mozpad content. I think just having that list of
applications though will give the mozpad community's efforts more
visibility and legitimacy than it is getting now.
I've been thinking about what this list would look like on www.mozilla.org
and posted a mockup at

I think we could use the slots on this page currently taken up with
Songbird and Miro and rotate these every month with other mozpad
applications. The link to see more Mozilla applications could then
point to a page with the full list.
