I think this brings up a question about how the mozpad community wants
to refer to the applications that are being created and the platform
that is being used. I've seen references to Mozilla applications, XUL
applications, XULRunner applications and Gecko applications before.
Each of these is saying basically the same thing, but it can be
confusing for people if each of these terms gets used. I think it
would be worthwhile to discuss which term we'd like to use as a
community and then make an effort to be consistent with the term when
talking about what we're doing.
We could also discuss if it makes sense to use just one term. In the
comments to John's post there is a request for "powered by mozilla
webrunner", "powered by mozilla xulrunner" and "powered by mozilla
gecko" buttons. Do we want to make this distinction or do we want to
focus on what these different types of applications have in common?

I would say "Powered by Mozilla" has the attraction of being simple and
consistent. I don't see any need to complicate that.
The idea is just great.
As pointed in comments to the blog above, it would be cool to have
official versions of other sizes as well. I personally vote for 88x31
logo which nicely fits in the html footers.
In addition, if the logo could be displayed in Help->About Firefox, it
would facilitate its promotions and would reduce confusion with
firefox/xulrunner.

I don't necessarily agree though. Saying "Powered by Firefox" brings
expectations of browser functionality, which many XULRunner apps do not
have.

Agree. "Powered by Mozilla" fits every need. More details or different
versions like "Powered by Gecko", "Powered by Firefox" are confusing and
are only readable for people like us knowing the technical background.
