Hi I wanted to know if mguyz cam gets involved in
projects that don't involve information
technology, because I tend to
think that mozilla may help out in this
particular project, this is
the story behind it.iRecently watched a
documentary
based on eradicating prostitution &
the saddest story had to be of a
young girl who ventured in this
business so that she could be able to
buy herself sanitary towels!!
Girls else where in Kenya have been
missing out on their education since
they can't afford sanitary towels
hence they end up staying at home to
groom themselves till their monthly
periods are over so that they can go
back to school!!
Some use shoulder pads, old rugs,
toilet papers, leaves, thick socks,
pieces of mattresses...to improvise!!

As far as the 'Haba na Haba Charity
Tours' is concerned, iReckon we are
on the right track with the Ladies
Sanitary Towels Drive going on!!
iSTRONGLY believe that if WE take up
the challenge to help those who are
less fortunate, to eradicate this
issue...we can make a mark & prevent
a girl from missing out on her
education or even venture out in the
streets to do sex work so that she
may be able to buy a pack of pads!!
It is my humble request that we get as
many people as we can to join this
group so that we can support this
Cause!! All you need to do is join &
pass the word around to your other
friends!! We really need ALOT of
donations in form of sanitary towels
or cash to purchase more sanitary
towels!!
Once we get a good number they'll
be distributed to Children's Homes,
Schools in Slums & remote
areas...God willing if we are going to
get more doners we will start
delivering them to women prisons &
IDP Camps!!

Let's all work towards keeping the girl
child in school & off the streets!! =) so if any one is interested please try and join, I have talked to majken and I have her full support, I also want to link with womoz for this one so we need as much help as possible :-).

Hi Jeff,

It's nice hearing from you, it's been a while. I've heard of the Haba na Haba Charity and indeed it is a commendable initiative. However, as much as it is for good, this is somewhat outside Mozilla's scope putting in mind that the Foundation has to answer to donors and the community over its spending, I don't see this as a direction we would take.

However, I'd still like to point out that we do take part in various CSR initiatives a good example being the Firefox Challenge that was recently held on Crowdrise [1]. Though note that this had an inclination to Web practices with Crowdrise having in the past gathered funds for charity projects over the Web. I'd advice that Haba na Haba consider having this initiative under Crowdrise which would make more sense and most likely generate support.
