Hi all,
As some of you may already know. Mozilla is at an advanced stage of
building a mobile operating system dubbed *FirefoxOS* [1] which rose from
the *B2G project* [2]. One of the most amazing things with FirefoxOS is the
ability to have web applications built from HTML5 tech run as native apps
on devices running the OS meaning more easier work for Web developers who
won't have to learn or develop on platform specific APIs.
We currently have a demo B2G device in Kenya running FirefoxOS for the
purpose of demoing as well as hacking on B2G and testing HTML5 mobile apps
on it. So this is a call for all those interested to learn on some of the
Web APIs Mozilla has for developing apps as well as the B2G ecosystem and
possibly get an app or two up on Mozilla's Market place [3]
As of now, we are in the process of organizing public tours of the device
starting with the Mozilla communities in Mombasa and Kampala [4] so if you
are interested in seeing the device showcase at your institution and/or
mobile/Web/IT related event, don't hesitate to get in touch. Hezron cced,
is in charge of the device.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to get write.
