Hey Mozillians,

Hope you all are in track with the planning of Mozilla India website revamp
[
http://mozillaindia.org/blog/we-need-your-help-re-designing-mozilla-india-website].
So, here's the call to discuss what's your opinion about it. Feel free to
add suggestions, you think that will make Mozilla-India site's new face
even more cuddly adorable.

Now that being the higher-level plan - we also need to decide upon the
lower-level infrastructure that will power up the system - the web hosting,
at large. As it has been mentioned in the blog, we have decided to rely
upon Mozilla for sponsoring the domain-hosting of our community site. With
that been said, we will need to confirm the specific hardware/platform
requirement to make the appeal. Here's the specification we'll be pitching
to get:

- Managed VPS with static IP address
- Linux System with remote (secure) shell access
- Flexibility to chose database, unlimited.
- System with 2GHz Processor, 2GB RAM
- Available Storage 50GB, unlimited in/outbound bandwidth.

This spec is able enough to serve the new Drupal-site for more than 1000
users on daily basis, plus serving the apps, adblock-plus local filters
etc. If you have queries or comments on this, please share.

On another note, developers rejoice! We are going for a full-frontal
open-source development project with the redesign of Mozilla India. Even
though FOSS-development was intended before, it was a bit technically
challenging to set-up the system. But now we will be using GitHub for
managing the code-base (repo), so contributing to it now will be easier
than you think!

As a Mozillian of our community, we therefore ask you for the consideration
on this entire planning-process - as you can already imagine how huge it
will be, we need support & enthusiasm from each one of you.

We will keep you updated on this, in the meantime keep up spreading the
Mozilla awesomeness... Thanks!

Hey Soumya,
For the l10n part of the site we can also look to incorporate translation
tools, like the ones incorporated in popular translation sites like
translatewiki.net. These tools really help in increasing the translation
throughput.

Swarnava, you've got a good point.
Know what? It'll not be very tough to implement that list, as we will have
the entire commit-log in the GitHub.

Sayak, nice proposition! I think this will be a good idea. The fact that I
don't deal much with l10n myself, so here's the call to l10n contributors
to ponder over it.

I know few people from translatewiki.net, let me get in touch with them and
get back to you all. We use this only for Wikipedia and Mediawiki's
localisation.

Thanks.

But its impossible to find out indian from there..and specially not
all people are here are involved with coding, some are from qa, some
are from l10n, some are from user support, and some are from other
area like affliate, drumbeat, reps etc. So we shoud have to create an
email id where people will send email to add there name on separate
page like this mozilla.com/credits ...we will verify how much they
working then we add them onto that credit page with brief description
how he involved with Mozilla.:)
