Mark Surman was interested in our ideas of a Drumbeat affiliate program.
Shall we
we put together a small number of affiliate banners?

I have read all the wiki pages on Drumbeat and never did find out the
history behind
the choice of color scheme that has been adopted for the Drumbeat website?
The color scheme gives the site a very nice Ubuntu kind of a feel and
vibe. Sweet!

Perhaps Drumbeat should approach Mark Shuttleworth @ Ubuntu and ask him
to join us :-)

Hi Paul,

You asked about the colour scheme for the Drumbeat site — I chose the warm brown colour scheme because I immediately had the idea that the site would use a visual language of tanned leather drum skins; the kind of bongo drums you see around Hippie Drum Circles. I wanted a warm, organic feeling and these colours flowed naturally from that. 

I didn't actually have Ubuntu in mind at all when I was designing though I realized the parallel shortly after. Sort of a happy accident.
