Why?
- A user can have One True Address Book, accessible from any host with
an IMAP client, including a webmail app.
- A user can create/access shared address books.
- IMAP entries are easily searchable on the server side.
- LDAP is not available to most users, and LDAP entries are currently
not mutable by TB.
How?
- Store each contact as a standards-compliant (RFC2426) vCard entry in
the IMAP folder, perhaps with the contact name as the 'Subject:'
header.
- Provide import/export routines to/from other address book formats.
