I wish Weave had an option to not ask for master password. Right now
the master password dialog pops up every time I start Firefox. I'm ok
with weave only syncing when I enter the master password for some

Good you have seen that, although that message 'will you install this?
untrusted software can damage the system' is always shown.
maybe one of the developers know.

It says "Author Not Verified " , is it safe to install it ?

That bug only refers to a Tools > Weave > Preferences malfunction.
For me, as for Turtle9598, Weave simply won't run in SM. It appears
to install ok but try to use it through the SM menu > Tools > Weave >

find the "weave" directory under that, and then remove the "meta"
directory there. Then start Firefox back up, have Weave sync once,

Changing username and password doesn't work - Start Over

I changed my username and password on each box I use weave - but now
when I restart firefox weave will not sign in. - I have to "start
over" on each machine! This is amazingly annoying.. Is there anything
I can do to fix this?

Greasemonkey uses external files, not preferences, to store the
userscripts. As such, it would require the same base as the proposed addon
sync, not that of the preferences sync.

Introduction of Secret Phrase - What is mine?!

I updated to the latest Weave today, and I noticed the introduction of
a Secret Phrase, however I can't remember setting one up.
I went to change the phrase however I need to enter my current one,

Sync & Start Over not working correctly

Exec Summary

I have installed Weave on 3 computers (2 PC & 1 Mac) all running
FF3.5. After a brief version mismatch and improper sequencing of
upgrades, I started over on each of the machines, one to write and 2
to read.

I am still receiving 'old' data from prior to the start over.
The start over process is not intuitive.

Because, When ever I click "connect" in the Weave preference, it gives
me the error message "Unknown Error". There is no way to specify the
password in the UI without clicking "Start Over". I do not use firefox
password manager ("Remember passwords for sites" is unchecked).

And using "Start Over" to get connected to Weave server is annoying.

howdy,

the new beta doesn't allow fx to start. it worked before and fx works
flawlessly w/ weave disabled and my other addons enbled.

It is already possible (though it's poorly/not documented) for add-ons
to register a sync engine to sync any arbitrary data type they wish.
This is in addition to preferences, which are trivial to sync just by
setting a pref.

I believe adblock plus already registers an engine to sync block lists
