Hi everybody,
Sorry you're having this error! Let me see what I can do to diagnose
it.
First of all, can you connect to https://testpilot.mozillalabs.com normally? The upload is just an XMLHttpRequest, so anything that
would prevent you from reaching the site in your browser would prevent
the upload from working as well.
Second, are any of you connecting from behind a company firewall or
anything like that?
We're going to send out a minor version update of the Test Pilot
extension, 0.2.2, this week. I'll try to get some better error
handling into 0.2.2. Even if it doesn't fix the problem, hopefully
the improved error handling will enable us to get some better
information about why the upload isn't working for you. I'll post
another message to this thread when 0.2.2 is ready to go out.
Thanks for your patience while we work out these bugs.

1) I can connect to Test Pilot page without any problem.
2) I am behind the router (with build-in firewall, type of connection
is WiFi.), but this shouldn't to the problem, because almost all
applications (except BitTorrent and other p2p tools, which requires to
open a port for inbound connections) are working normally.
For me, it looks like Test Pilot sends data correctly, but something
is wrong going on ending stage of transmission (may be i am wrong,
though).

Perhaps it it's caused by continuing data collecting bug described on
the forum.
I have the same error on (looks like after) result submitting. At the
same time as I can see on chrome://testpilot/content/status-complete.html
page there is still activity on the graph (I have data for the last 10
days at the moment).

It is strange, while I did not have any problems uploading the data,
it did take some time. To insure that I was not hung up, I opened the
properties box for my connection, and saw the outbound connection
stats indicating data being sent. Since I still suffer with dial up,
it did take a good 10 minutes, but the data seemed to have gotten
through.

Hi! I just tried to upload data and finally the process of uploading
was finished successfully. I have no idea why, because on my side
there was no changes in connection type or anything related to
Firefox. I hope, that next version of Test Pilot will show more
detailed reports about errors (because, just "Error" message is not
enough :) ). Thank you.
Best Regards,
Oleg.

Hi Oleg, dellape and fatman,
Sorry to hear that you had the submission error and thank you for your
patience. We are trying to dig out reasons for this problem and we heard
different descriptions from people on when it happened and how it was
solved. Sorry about it again. We will work on it and try to get is solved
before the next test.

I've been trying to upload my data for more than a week now and I
still haven't been able to complete the upload. The upload runs for
about 1.5 minutes and, according to Firebug, the server closes the
connection with a '500 Internal Server Error' code and an empty
response body. The request's "Content-Length" header shows about
6.52MB. Monitoring the upload speed also shows an average of 77kB/s
for 1.5 minutes which is about 6.5MB of transferred data.
I've use one of Test Pilot's internal functions to retrieve the data
manually by running the following code in Firebug:
/***
!!!WARNING!!! Do not run this code unless
you know what you are doing. It may cause your
browser to freeze for several minutes and/or crash.
***/
var ta = document.createElement('textarea');
ta.value = dataText;
document.body.appendChild(ta);
The result is about 40,600 lines of data and the text saves to about
4.52MB in ASCII.
(Note that the HTTP request encodes the data before sending it, which
adds a couple of MB)
My only guess is that the server times out due to the size of the
upload.
Hope this helps.

Yay! Test Pilot 0.3 fixed this issue for me. The data for the tab
survey upload succesfully (and quickly!) on the first try after
updating to 0.3. Now on to more tests!
