Rocketeers!

We're happy to announce the Add-ons Builder Preview Release, an early look at the web application we're developing to make it easy to build Firefox add-ons right in your browser without having to download or install anything.

Add-ons Builder provides the same APIs that are available in the Jetpack SDK, and it lets you build, test, and bundle add-ons for distribution via addons.mozilla.org.

Keep in mind that this is a preview release at an alpha stage of development, which means that it is not feature complete, still contains many bugs, and will continue to evolve rapidly.

To use Add-ons Builder, just go to builder.mozillalabs.com. To learn how to use it, see the documentation, including a step-by-step tutorial for creating an add-on. And if you experience a problem, check out the release notes for a list of known issues and their workarounds.

We'd love to get your feedback on this release! What works well, and what can be improved? What is missing, and what is present that shouldn't be? You can provide feedback by posting to this discussion group, reporting a bug, or conversing with us in #jetpack on irc.mozilla.org.

Very cool guys, I like it a lot.
Has a Heroku feel to it and that is a good thing.

This will greatly simplify my next project and hopefully I'll have a
working extension by the start of next week!

On the front page of the Addons Builder website, there's a line that
reads "Need more Help? read the tutorial for a step-by-step guide to
building an add-on using this site."

Shouldn't "Help" be lowercase, and "read" be uppercase?

Me too. My bugzilla triage scripts
(https://fedorahosted.org/bugzilla-triage-scripts/) are going now
through third rewrite (from Greasemonkey to Jetpack-prototype, then
rewrite to make scripts useful for any bugzilla, not only the Red Hat
one, and now to Jetpack-SDK) and it feels very much like the most
civilized environment so far. There is still A LOT OF functionality
missing, but generally it has been pretty pleasant experience so far.

This is very cool. Making addons is incredibly faster than with the
old jetpack way.
My first problem is that my all new addon is functionnal (https://
builder.mozillalabs.com/addon/1000086/latest/), but it doesn't pass
the AMO validation.
And the second problem, which is really annoying : the text rendering
is like if the indentation was negative between different colored
elements (like the text-indent css property).
I didn't found anything on the web but this old topic on the bespin
group which describes what i get : https://builder.mozillalabs.com/addon/1000086/latest/
.
I tested the bespin.mozillalabs.com canvas, it is working weel. The
only difference is the first font listed in the font-family css
property of the canvas.
Do you have an idea of what is going wrong ?

Thanks,
AM

PS: I'm on ubuntu and it's the same result on FF3.6 and 3.7.

IIRC, the bespin version used on the Builder is from the 0.6 branch,
and latest bespin is 0.9a1. As far as I know, the reason is that newer
versions changed the APIs and that stuff is pending, but is one of the
planned improvements.

Good catch! I filed that as bug 576762.
