Hi,
Our company is building a web-based IDE.
It occurred to me that we could get the benefits of a more
desktop-application-like behavior for our users, without interfering
with the normal experience desired when viewing other web apps, if the
browser were to have the ability to use full-screen mode on a tab-by-tab
basis.
Especially if Firefox is persisting with its earlier attempt to allow
ctrl-tab to show an icon preview during keyboard-based tab-switching, it
would really elevate tabs to having all of the benefits of desktop
applications (their ability to utilize full screen space and be an oasis
from browser busy-ness--as nice as it is to have full browser toolbars,
etc. open during normal browsing).
So one could simply focus on switching, for example, between a
full-blown note-taking application in full screen, a news website with
all toolbars open, a game in full screen, a search engine page results
in normal browser mode, etc., rather than having to remember to
re-enable or disable full-screen as one feels optimal for a given page.
Thanks,
Brett
