Short Summary:
Generate, save and send “bouquets” of tabs mapped in a web structure.
These maps could be used to convey information, and save sessions of
tabs in a meaningful way.
Description:
Have you ever bookmarked a series of sites, only to come back to them
later in the “Unsorted” field of the Bookmark panel and wonder what
exactly you were thinking? Or planned to go on a trip with a friend,
and sent them an itinerary via email? Even using Ubiquity to embed a
map won't give the viewer a complete map of your plans, and this
problem is only aggravated when one is dealing with a large number of
bookmarks all detailing small bits of a large idea. I propose a method
for generating Bouquets, visual maps that use sites for individual
petals, all connecting in a web pattern that can be used to show
relationships in structure or time. A combination of mind mapping and
bookmarking, Bloom would allow the user to easily generate these maps
from organized large amounts of information by applying tags, and
searching site content.
In a world where the internet is more important than the desktop, the
ability to easily organize, display, and send information has become
paramount.
From my experiences at OpenEverything NYC, I've also come to see that
data must be shared in an open way, and Bloom Bouquets only need to
consist of small files of XML, easily emailed and rendered in each
user's browser by a Firefox extension.
Many thanks to everyone who presented during the Design Challenge, and
all of the participants who contributed such great ideas, I hope to
work with you in the future!
