Subject: Advanced Download Destinations
Hi...

i am an avid user FF for many years now... while browsing the web i
often come across many downloads of various filetypes for my projects
and whatnot...

personally i love it the FF allows you to set the destination folder
for downloads.. but after a downloading a whole lot of stuff i've been
having a hard time sorting what's what in my downloads folder...

so here's my suggestion/request/idea...

how bout adding an ADVANCED Download destinations / filters..

what i'm trying to say is that i want to be able to ORGANIZE my
DOWNLOADS into respective folders (i.e. Videos, Music, picture,
software etc.) as i download them WITHOUT the hassle of SETTING THE
DOWNLOAD DESTINATION for every download.. (of course i would like this
feature as an OPTION.. this is for the more web oriented users... and
since it is an option users could easily switch back to the old
downloading format... ~downloading everything into whichever folder
the choose)

my idea is that the ADVANCED option lets you set FILTERS (i.e. jpg,
png, tif, files go to a designated folder for image files.. same goes
for rar, zip, exe files go into a misc folder)....

I'm not necessarily asking for a feature to set filters for every kind
of file type.. but maybe you could let users do it themselves to
enhance FF's CUSTOMIZABILITY (i'm not really sure if that's a word...
haha)....

hope you guys can give this some thought to help guys like me and
other users with their cluttered download folder...

For me this sounds very much like what an advanced download manager,
which you can install as an add-on, does...

Warm regards

i would have to say yes... only this download manager would be built
in into the FF package rather than resorting to external add-ons..

still.. thanks..

Not so sure about that - it doesn't strike me as something which the
vast majority of users would find necessarily helpful (i.e. a
poweruser feature) and thus would only bloat the browser
unnecessarily. :)

I have very simple solution. Firefox should allow to drag items from
download manager(download list). When user drag item it still be on
the list, but on file system it will goes to place typed by user. We
can also move file to download directory, using popup menu. It could
be great if I can to just right click on item and select move to
option.

Yeah, drag & drop in the download manager is a nice idea...  Also drag &
drop for uploading files. :)
