I always remembered this film for the actual "job" itself. It's a
jewel heist, and one which paid attention to detail on the
technicalities of the robbery. The robbery scene is 20 minutes long
with no background music, and no dialogue, helping to put you right
there, aware of every subtle sound as they dig through the ceiling
into the shop below.
Then, like Heat, it becomes a puddled mess of hoods v's hoods, hoods
and their wives and mistresses, and only one brief appearance of an
inspector who is savvy to the world of Parisian crime. Still, it's
more than 2 decades since I saw this on BBC2 in a double bill with Le
Trou, and it was a rewarding re-watch.
