I am very interested in the contribution of this project for a Spanish
implementation, and I first would like to know if there is already
someone working on it, and if is not, therefore, where you would
recommend me that I could begin. I Already have time investigating
this possibility since I discovered that Wikipedia was available as a
free download and I would like to support them with the distribution
in Mexico and, why not, to promote it in Spanish speaking countries in
America.
Thanks a lot

Hola:

Thank you very much for offering your time. There once was a project for Spanish but since abandoned.
As stated on the website, we are waiting for the OpenZim folks to complete their work to be able to start packaging it and work on top of it. I'm writing down your email and will contact you once ready.

Hello:
I'm very thankful for you quick response, I'd like to add that I'm
already working on understanding the ways Wikipedia can be consulted
without having an internet connection, I'm locally installing the
Wikipedia to studying this process a little better, I'd like to know
if there is a way I can have your support on this and taking up again
the Spanish Moulinwiki project.

Hi,
I think, it does not make sense to try to make by yourself a new spanish mirror, we have one: http://es.mirror.kiwix.org
The best you can do to help us, is giving feedback about the software/zim... and if you can code work on the Moulinkiwix code.
If you absolutely want to build a mirror you can use our mirroring and dumping tools http://kiwix.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/kiwix/ ; but if you want to understand how Mediawiki works, the best is to ask the Mediawiki dev team directly.

I think that I'm not making myself clear, maybe due to my english is
not as good as my spanish but, what I'm trying to say is...
I don't want to reinvent the wheel, but I want to distribute Spanish
Wikipedia on DVD if there is any already started, otherwise I have all
the disposition of supporting and even find people interested on the
implementation of this distribution and that's why I'm looking for you
and your team to get an orientation about this.

Is it going to be announced when done and ready to start?

I'm currently building a selection of 30.000 articles. Mirror is available here (please do not edit): * http://es.mirror.kiwix.org
Il wil announce in any case the alpha version of the ZIM file on the homepage of Kiwix * http://www.kiwix.org
I also search an "editorial" responsible for the future which following task: * release Management * build home page with presentation of the selection. * Support for users * Testing
I do all the technical work but I search someone with small technical knowhow and Linux friendly (at leas as long as Kiwix is only available for Linux).
