Hi,

It was announced that the MongoDB Java driver 3.0 and Morphia would be
merged. Is this still happening? Is it available somewhere to test?

Thanks,

Mathias

It is still the plan, but there is no prototype to test yet.

When we get someone to work on it I'll let everyone know.

Just checking in again to see if that's still the plan? Seems someone went ahead and created a fork since the main project is relatively inactive:

It's a bit hard to tell which version of the project I should be using. I just started using Morphia this weekend and chose the fork since it appears to have more bug fixing activity going on, which is important to me since I quickly ran into a bug after starting to use it. Maybe 10gen could hire James, who forked the project, to merge the Morphia community back into one and have the library get some love and care again.

API wise there isn't any difference (at the moment), so you can simply swap out the Maven dependency for whatever version works best for you. What time brings, we'll only see...

Actually Scott has been maintaining Morphia pretty actively until he has been hired by 10gen. I'd assume MongoDB is too successful and they are drowning in consulting work (no inside information, I'm just guessing).
So hiring is no guarantee for active support (even though I've had the same hope)...

Cheers,
Philipp
