Friends,
Dear members,

I am trying to readin ANSYS generated HB matrix into MATLAB. I
have down loaded matlab source code file to do this "hb_to_msm.m" from
http://www.scs.fsu.edu/~burkardt/m_src/hb_io/hb_io.html.

I have written HB matrix file ( test.matrix) using HBMAT command
in ansys. When I was trying to read this file into matlab using matlab

script "hb_to_msm.m" i am getting errors and i could not read the file.

Any guide lines from experienced users is highly appreciated.

Regards
Aadith,
Chennai.

Hello,

You can try the version available at the Matrix Market site.

http://math.nist.gov/MatrixMarket/formats.html#hb-code-m

Hopefully it is different. If it also does not work, no luck. You can
try code for other languages available at the Matrix Market site and
then try to snick the matrix in Matlab.

I was able to read HB files in Mathematica. It support the
Harwell-Boeing natively. Well, not all the time. A couple of times there
were problems as well.

Some problem that will remain is to learn what rows correspond to what
degrees of freedom. In my knowledge this information is not written in
the HB format.

You can try mor4ansys. With an option -w it will write you matrices in
the Matrix Market format and in my experience Matlab reads them. The
code is again at the Matrix Market site.

Good luck,
