Aaron's Book: MooTools Essentials

it is for a previous version of Mootools but most of the key concepts
are the same.
But perhaps the best place is:

Another great place:

In my opinion, jQuery is more about visual effects. Sure you can write
a great program in ether jQuery or Moo. But given the choice I will opt
for Moo any day of the week. In my opinion Moo is more powerful and
makes better use of familiar programming constructs. But don't get me
wrong, both are powerful in there own way.
With all that said and with my bias twords Mootools, jQuery does has a
huge user base and a ton of examples/tutorials, so it may offer more of
a positive out-of-the-box experience. However, I have always found this
mailing list to be very helpful with any questions.
The Jay Johnston book is not one that will make you a better
programmer, its a collection of snippets... often not written well or
with mootools best practices considerations at heart.
My advice--without any disrespect for the author's efforts--read it
for information but do not copy code verbatim. If you can cancel your
order, do that instead, far better resources and example to learn from
online.
If you really want to learn about javascript and mootools from a book,
get keeto's one instead - though it's not the most suited for an
absolute beginner:
