Hi, I am just learning and was trying to put something different for
the navigation, I have a div toggle over another div that contains the
navigation, when the user clicks on the div the navigation is
revealed. The problem I am having is that I have a dropdown menu in
the navigation div and it is not working because of the div that is
hiding it, thanks so much for any advice, this is probably really
simple but I just don't see it at the moment
here is the code:http://jsfiddle.net/SEPcH/

If you are just starting with Mootools and already know javascript then
you can try

Aaron's Book: MooTools Essentials
http://www.amazon.com/Mootools-Essentials-Reference-JavaScript-FirstPress/dp/1430209836

it is for a previous version of Mootools but most of the key concepts
are the same.

But perhaps the best place is:
http://mootools.net/docs

Another great place:
http://www.mootorial.com/

Thanks, I just picked this book up:
http://www.amazon.com/MooTools-Beginners-Guide-Jacob-Gube/dp/1847194583/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328923095&sr=1-2
and http://www.amazon.com/MooTools-1-3-Cookbook-Jay-Johnston/dp/1849515689/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328923095&sr=1-3
Not as much as jQuery as far as stuff out there, I found a bunch but a
lot of it is old and the links are dead;
I am just learning javascript and like it, mootools seems more like
javascript where jQuery looks like jQuery, I guess I should get more
familiar with javascript to use mootools ?

thanks a bunch

In my opinion, Mootools is more like classic programming with objects
and classes (oop).

In my opinion, jQuery is more about visual effects. Sure you can write
a great program in ether jQuery or Moo. But given the choice I will opt
for Moo any day of the week. In my opinion Moo is more powerful and
makes better use of familiar programming constructs. But don't get me
wrong, both are powerful in there own way.

With all that said and with my bias twords Mootools, jQuery does has a
huge user base and a ton of examples/tutorials, so it may offer more of
a positive out-of-the-box experience. However, I have always found this
mailing list to be very helpful with any questions.

The Jay Johnston book is not one that will make you a better
programmer, its a collection of snippets... often not written well or
with mootools best practices considerations at heart.
My advice--without any disrespect for the author's efforts--read it
for information but do not copy code verbatim. If you can cancel your
order, do that instead, far better resources and example to learn from
online.

If you really want to learn about javascript and mootools from a book,
get keeto's one instead - though it's not the most suited for an
absolute beginner:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/1430230541/

Best regards

Thanks so much for the advice, I love JavaScript, it's a bit confusing
(remembering all the different ways to get information from the DOM)
but I am liking it :)
