Being a grrrlll, I wondered what to make of this ... prank ?

Dude, you can put anything in the url that isn't a page on the site
and get the 404... try this:

http://mootools.net/download/version/SeeHowICanPutWhateverTheFuckIWant-ThatsBecauseItIsAUrlThatRedirectsTo404
