Dear Educators,
The Montana Historical Society is offering a free summer teacher institute, June 25-27, 2008.  You will learn about heritage education and how to connect it to your students' lives, through your classroom.

If you are interested in applying to participate in the institute, Celebrating Community: County History in the Classroom, complete the attached application form and either mail it to me at our physical address or email back to me.

We are very excited about this institute!  Thank you for taking time to consider this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Linda

Oh!! This is exactly what I love about MT Heritage! This institute looks fabulous!!  Unfortunately, I'm committed to a family reunion in Minnesota these exact days.  I'm so disappointed...shoot!  Will there be any way to gain copies of information, especially the accessing the resource information?  THANKS & Congrats on a transitional year MT Heritage!!  Way to go!!

Linda, this sounds like a wonderful opportunity and I tried to recruit from our staff, but nobody can make it. A shame as Missoula County is preping for a 100th celebration of the courthouse.
Oh, well.

Hi Diane,
The summer months are full of family reunions and other such
activities. It always is a challenge to find the "opportune" time to
conduct summer institutes. Good luck with the celebration of the
county!

Hi Alycia, We will provide a bibliography of the sources for the
institute. We will probably post it on our website for downloading.
That way, we can still share the information, albeit to a lesser
degree, for those who cannot attend.

Hi everyone,
Here is the three-day schedule of sessions and workshops for the Celebrating Community: County History in the Classroom summer teacher institute.  We are very excited to have the participating presenters help us launch a very exciting time in Montana as each county prepares to celebrate its centennial.  If you ever wondered how to connect your county's history to your students' lives and their work in the classroom, here is your chance!

Hope to see you in June!
