Why do I get BSON::InvalidKeyName on save?

I am getting this quite consistently on save when creating 100+ items
with auto-generated names.

BSON::InvalidKeyName:
key must not contain '.'

I don't have a small repro (yet). Anyone seen this?

I have the same problem for a while and still found no solution. My
code worked perfect, but since a week I'm getting this or the
variation

BSON::InvalidKeyName:
key must not contain '$'

without making any changes to the code.

Mystery solved. This is fixed in bson/bson_ext 1.2.0.
