Azure Worker Role - Replica Set name other than rs failing

I discovered that the Azure Worker Role code seems to be unable to initialize the replica set when you set the rs name to something other than rs.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so, have you discovered the cause?

Is this when deployed to Azure or on the emulator? What version of Azure SDK is this? Also what version of the worker role code is this?

This is on "real" azure,  not the emulator. We are using SDK 1.7 and the latest tagged source from 10Gen for the Worker Role.
