Partial flag in query doesn't work with count?

I am sharding and testing what happens if a shard goes down.

Finds seem to work when I use the partial flag, but count and distinct fail with a socket exception.  Does partial not work with command-style queries?

Thanks!

Yes, the partial flag is just for queries, not commands (count,
distinct, map/reduce, etc). Feel free to file a jira feature request
for the commands you think should work partially (and how).
