Edinburgh's School of Informatics is hosting an Appathon on Oct 8-9 as part of the Silicon Valley Comes 2 UK series.
It's a weekend event in the Informatics Forum to help teams of students build apps (both web and mobile) that use government data sets for education, environment and health. Winning student teams get a trip to meet the PM and others at Global Entrepreneurship Week in London, and a selection of these winners will get a trip to tour Silicon Valley companies and attend SXSW in Austin. Major klout score boosts to all who submit entries!
We're looking for team mentors with business, marketing and design (as well as programming) skills to help the teams. We're also looking for local sponsors interested in donating prizes for local participants.
I'd appreciate it if you could pass this along to any contacts you think would be interested. If you can join us, even better!
Flyer and press release are attached.
Cheers,
Morgan
