Is there an estimate when moji will be ready for firefox 3?
I installed it and so far for my machine it seems to be
working ok but it won't let me install moji. For version
9.3 it says "moji will not be installed because it does not
provide secure updates."
Thanks
Steve S.
I think I'll have a look at Firefox 3 once they have the first release
candidate. But even then, we won't be able to solve this secure updates
problem. Firefox 3 by default requires updates from secure (https)
servers. It is not fully clear to me whether we are able to do this with
reasonable effort on mozdev. The official mozilla add-ons server is
PITA. It takes ages to get your add-on reviewed and about every second
time the reviewer does not get how moji works (has to install
dictionary, translates Japanese to English but not English to Japanese,
etc.) and turns it down putting it into the sandbox where it basically
stays forever.
You may read this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/moji/t/f70ac228af6894e8?hl=en
it explains how to turn off the secure update checks. That's the only
solution at this time for this problem.

Mozdev now offers secure updates:

My extensions (well some of them) have been on AMO for a long time.
Two of them are now mark as trusted. This means that when uploading
a new version, in STEP 2, right at the bottom of the page there is
an option to mark the new version as "public" immediately bypassing
the review process. Keep an eye on the second step right at the
bottom, do you see two radio buttons (sandbox, and public)?

I would guess, spending a lot of time on IRC in the #addons channel
chatting to the reviewers and infiltrating the concept of Moji into
their collective unconscious would be one way.
Writing a killer extension (Console2), that reviewers use to test
other extensions with, might also work :)

No. Not with moji. I guess you must be uploading extensions a couple of
time, have them reviewed a couple of time before they trust you.

Even then. After submissions it takes a few weeks to be reviewed at the
moment. We have been rejected a few times because the reviewer did not
understand that dictionaries are required. Last time we have been
rejected because it did not translate anything. No more details. Asking
for clarification did not help. No responses. I guess the person tried
to translate English into Japanese. I basically had to upload it again
to have to reviewed again.

We won't kill anyone. ;-) Moji is a fairly specialized extensions
targeting a special audience.
Do you know if it would help if we asked moji users to do sandbox
reviews of moji? As far as I understand a version is sent to the sandbox
if it has been rejected by the reviewer. Thus, I thought if we would
mobilize a couple of moji users to do sandbox reviews it would help to
accelerate the whole process.
