The anti-mining community of Colomb,
especially Cheryl D'Souza, Motes Antao et al must be celebrating and
making merry on the occasion of the recognition accorded to PI
Santosh Desai's self-less service to the State of Goa, more specifically to
the government of Digamber Kamat, by honouring him with a gold
medal on Goa's so called Liberation day when the Protuguese were driven out
lock-stock and barrel from the sacred soil of Goa some 48 years ago. It
will be a wonder if this aggrieved community will ever be liberated from
those 'Portuguese' who are abounding and sheltering in the many a
devastating iron-ore mines of Goa.
This particular Gold Medal with which PI
Santosh Desai is honoured with must be heavy and likely to soon lose
its gold lustre since it is packed with Goa's mineral
ore.
Cheers

PS: Surprising to note that none of the 34
odd felicitators who have contributed to the quater-page advertisement in
HERALD to congratulate PI Santosh Desai over his massive fortune are
hailing from Colomb area.

Communalization
of politics has serious consequences
for culture of governance. It is when a
party fails to
provide good governance but still wants to gain or
regain
power that it plays the communal card.
Communal politics is, thus, a threat
both to our
spiritual heritage from the past and our well being
in the
present.
