Modesto Tango Bulletin, April 23, 2012

Sophia's Dance Journey has changed hands; it is now VBoogie's Dance Journey.  Our class Saturday was first to use the studio since the transition. We essentially camped out.  There was a floor, but no mirror, no place to sit, no air-conditioning, but we managed, and expect that each week will see a new improvement.

 Our next milonga will be on the first Friday of May, May 4; mark your calendars.

CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK

MONDAY - Tonight, April 23 & 30. Jacobs Fine Dining,  2501 McHenry. practica and social dancing.  7-9 p.m.  Come early for a meal. No fee, but you are encouraged to order food or drink off the menu.

WEDNESDAY - April 25, Beginner class at the Senior Center. 2:30 p.m.   211 Bodem (at Scenic). Enter through front door and sign in.  No fee.

SATURDAY - April 28  - 11 a.m. to noon. Class  at VBoogie's Dance Journey, 711 10th Street. $10.  Through summer we offer these classes free to leaders (usually men) willing to dance with other followers.  When we resume fees for all, the free participants will be grand-fathered and continue free.  So if you know anyone who'd  like to get in under these circumstances, encourage them to join now.

@>---- Saturday, April 28, Tango By The River, 128 J Street, Old Sacramento -- Kiss And  Tango Milonga!  if you needed an opportunity to share a kiss or two! Here are some tips and rules for the day: 1) There is no upper limit to the number of kisses you can share. 2) It is recommended you limit your kisses to one person. 3) If you lack mate, it's perfectly acceptable to kiss one not formally your mate.  4) You can kiss your mate wherever you want. 5) Candy or flowers are not required. But we predict they will net more kisses.  9 p.m.-1 a.m. Cost $10. DJ: Peter Baldridge.

Saturday, May 12 -- LEATHER AND LACE MILONGA! Let there be leather ... let there be lace ... or even a combination of the two! Have some fun! 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Tango By The River, 128 J Street, Old Sacramento - 8-11 p.m.  Practilonga - combines the best of a practica and a milonga.  From 8 to 8:15 p.m, Donna will give a "Tango Tip for the Day."  It might be anything from refining technique in an embellishment, a step useful for navigating the dance floor, a stretch that is particularly good for dancers, etc.  $5 entry.
