Subject: Error loading design
Hi all,

I had successfully installed ModelSim PE Student Edition about a month
ago and had been using it successfully till a few days back when my
designs stopped simulating. They get past the compilation but I just
can't get them to simulate. The older designs which had successfully
simulated also do not anymore. I get the following message when I try
to simulate:

# ** FATAL ERROR: ModelSim PE Student Edition licensing failure due to
one or more problems with the license key such as:
# - it is not found
# - it has expired
# - it is not for this user
# - it is not for this computer
# - it is not for this version of ModelSim PE Student Edition.
#
# Please go to http://www.model.com and download an updated copy of
the ModelSim PE Student Edition.
# Error loading design

Its been just over a month since I installed the student edition, and
I don't see a reason why this should happen. However, I have installed
a good number of software on my PC of late. Could they have created
some problem?

Hi omy,

I met the same error. I am using modelsim6.5b student edition and I
have copy the student_license.dat to the directory"C:
\Modeltech_pe_edu_6.5b" but still got the same error" Error loading
design" when I tried to simulate my design, I even tried copying it to
every other directory such as "C:\Modeltech_pe_edu_6.5b\win32pe_edu"
but still got the same error . So have you solved your ModelSim
license problem???

Many thanks and I am looking forward to your prompt reply. :)

Kind Regards,
tarzan

I got the same error, after the whole process of downloading the
program, and the ini settings in the wrong directory and finally I got
the
# Error loading design. I have few time for study and I cannot lost
more time, this program sucks, fortunately there are really free
programs as verybest. Maybe modelsim is good but after "using" the
student edition I would not buy modelsim never.
