Hello Model-Glue Fans,

Dennis Clark and I are going to start developing an ORM Adapter for CF9's built-in ORM capabilities. We met today to discuss requirements and approaches and have documented our findings and thoughts in a Google Wave.

Dan, I have added you to the wave, and would appreciate any feedback/guidance that you care to offer.

If anyone else is interested in observing or providing feedback, please let me know and I'll add you to the wave as well.

Cheers,
Bob

Toss me in there. This addy.

I actually started on a hibernate ORMAdapter long ago, might be
useful, but probably not. :)

Do you have any code you'd like to share?

Maybe. I can dig around and see what I had, it's been a bit. Also
depends on if the metadata from cf9's impl is pure hibernate or not,
etc., as that's what I was doing it against.

Hibernate has a freaking lovely meta data system tho, so maybe we can
get at it, if not.

Guess I should go download CF9, neh? =)

I was planning on checking out what's available via CF first, but if that doesn't cover it I'd be happy to go deeper into the Hibernate metadata, assuming it's accessible from CF (it probably is).  Perhaps I'll just email you directly if I have any questions about it.

Let me see if I have this correct . . . this ORM adaptor would be used
within Model-Glue, as an option for those who don't want to use Transfer
or Reactor?

That is correct. Currently Model-Glue supports two ORMs for generic events and scaffolding: Reactor and Transfer. This adapter will add CF9 ORM to the list of supported ORMs.

Bob

I'd like to join the wave. I've been looking at the ORM metadata code
involved in the scaffolding routines in MG3 lately, so maybe I'll have
something to contribute.

i'd like to get in on this too, but i've been unable to get an invite to google wave (is it US only during preview?).
if anyone has any to give out, please drop me a line.

otherwise can you post a summary of the current discussions somewhere those who can't surf the wave can read.. like in this thread perhaps :)

cheers, Chris

Does anybody on the list have an extra Google Wave invite?  Chris is looking for one.

Chris, let's see if you get an invite before starting to duplicate info into this thread.

I've got an invite to give out . . .

I'd love to see this as well at this address. We've been using Hibernate and CFGroovy in CF8 outside of CF9. So I'd love to see what would be possible in CF9 and what possible backwards compatibility we might be able to add. I also have a few Wave invite left. Hit me up off list if you need one.

Thanks,
Roy

Hey Roy,

Sorry, somehow your note got lost in the heap.  I've added you to the wave now.

Hi,

I don't suppose I could get in on this with an invite?

Hi Chuck,

The development of the adapter is nearing completion, but I have sent you a wave invite.

Cheers,
Bob
