Hi Lucy,

This certainly isn't the normal experience. Can you be a little more specific about the error?

What version of ColdFusion are you running?
Can you run other ColdFusion files?
What is the stack trace of the error?

I'll help you as much as I can...

Coldfusion 10. No stack trace of the error. This is all I got from
running the page.

Sounds like you are going to need to enable the Robust Exception Information to provide greater detail about the source of errors:

In the Administrator, click Debugging & Logging
Debug Output Settings, and select the Robust Exception Information
option.

Once you do this, and get the stack trace, please post it here. There isn't enough at the moment to help you troubleshoot the issue.

Ahh. That helps. This line here, means something isn't right in your ColdSpring.xml file.

The error occurred in C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/wwwroot/coldspring/beans/
AbstractBeanFactory.cfc: line 253

Post the contents of your /config/coldspring.xml to this list and we'll help you get it right.

That's the AbstractBeanFactory.cfc. We need to see your ColdSpring.xml file.

We are getting closer.

That file, is not exactly the one we need though. The file you sent is one that comes with the coldspring framework as an example.

Try this:
  1. Inside your ModelGlue application, is a directory called config.
  2. Inside the config directory is a file probably called ColdSpring.xml.
  3. This is the application specific ColdSpring file that is used to run the ModelGlue application that gave you the original error. This file has an error in it somewhere and we need to see the contents to help you figure out what happened.
Basically, if you downloaded the modelglueapplication template into your webroot, you can find this file in:

/webroot/modelglueapplicationtemplate/config

If you can't find the file, take a screenshot of the directory where your ModelGlue file is, and we'll be able to get more specific.

That's the AbstractBeanFactory.cfc. We need to see your ColdSpring.xml file.

If that is the entirety of the file (and it appears that it is), then I'm going to go with my initial reaction to the expanded exception:

I think that createObject('java') is disabled in the environment that you're trying to run in.

Are you on your local development machine?  A shared hosting account?  Something else?

So, I have more questions than answers right now, but it looks like something is weird with your paths.

You said you are calling this by the following URL: http://127.0.1:8500/modelglueapplicationtemplate

This means, if I'm making the right assumptions, your ColdFusion files should be here:
C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/wwwroot/modelglueapplicationtemplate

However, the stack trace doesn't seem to be coming from that directory at all. It's pointing to:
C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/wwwroot/translator/index.cfm

So, something isn't lining up with what you should be doing. It's very important to get the paths right in the coldspring.xml file, else nothing will work. I think the best thing for you to do right now, is remove these two directories and start over:
C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/wwwroot/translator
C:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/wwwroot/modelglueapplicationtemplate

Begin here:
https://github.com/modelglue/modelglue-framework/wiki/QuickStart

Post back with any questions you have.

That may be the case, but there are references in the coldspring.xml file, which point to modelglueapplicationtemplate.

The error you are getting is because ColdSpring was told to make an object it can not find. So we need to figure out what object that is, and where it thinks it's supposed to go.

We are getting closer.

That file, is not exactly the one we need though. The file you sent is one that comes with the coldspring framework as an example.

Try this:
  1. Inside your ModelGlue application, is a directory called config.
  1. Inside the config directory is a file probably called ColdSpring.xml.
  1. This is the application specific ColdSpring file that is used to run the ModelGlue application that gave you the original error. This file has an error in it somewhere and we need to see the contents to help you figure out what happened.

Looks real good. No issues stick out for me.

Just for fun, try reloading the application like this:
http://127.0.0.1:8500/translator/?init=true

If the error doesn't go away, zip up the entire translator directory and email it to the list. I'll figure out what's going on..

Looks like it is java environment variable set up thing. I did "JAVA_HOME: c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_06" "PATH: c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_06/bin" It is still not working. Did I miss something?

Is that in your jvm.config file?

The stock version points to: java.home=C:\\ColdFusion10\\jre

try opening your jvm.config file (in: C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin), and pointing it back to the standard location above.

I changed it in control - system -> advance system setting. I didn't touch jvm.config file at all.

Then I doubt that is the issue.

See instructions in the jvm.config:

#
# VM configuration
#
# Where to find JVM, if {java.home}/jre exists then that JVM is used
# if not then it must be the path to the JRE itself

java.home=C:\\ColdFusion10\\jre
application.home=C:\\ColdFusion10\\cfusion

#
# If no java.home is specified a VM is located by looking in these places in this
# order:
#
#  1) ../runtime/jre
#  2) registry (windows only)
#  3) JAVA_HOME env var plus jre (ie $JAVA_HOME/jre)
#  4) java.exe in path
