As much as I didn't like the Google Group format, I fully intended to
let that be the "official" forum for us to gather at... but with all
that's gone on in the last 24 hours, not any more LOL.

Thanks from me too!!
p.s. my ModBook was shipped from Palatine IL on Feb 1st. It moved to
Chicago and is now in Louisville, the UPS Centre.
I think it should arrive in Köln (Germany) in the next few hours or
days and then drive south to me!

I know how you felt when you received the message that your ModBook is
shipping. Elation!
And even more so when it arrives.
I'm delghted with mine. My big DEVONthink Pro Office databases really
fly compared to their performance on my MacBook Pro with 2 GB RAM.
Yes, that's because my Mod Book has 4 GB RAM. I would have seen a
similar speed increase if I had a new MacBook or MacBook Pro, and that
would have been cheaper.
I've always thought that Steve Jobs was wrong in his dismissal of pen-
based Mac tablets.
That's because I think clamshell laptops are a terrible ergonomic
design when used in the lap.
Whats wrong with pen-based computing? I learned to write with a pen or
pencil when I was 5 years old, and have been doing that for a long
time. So why shouldn't I be able to write and draw on a computer?
For me, the ModBook is the new super-Newton. It's a fuII-fledged Mac
running Leopard for all my applications. It's comfortable to use when
sitting in a chair. I can attach a keyboard for heavy duty text input
-- or dictate text or write and draw on it.
Freedom! Unlike my MacBook Pro, I'm not tied to a desk or tray table
when using the ModBooK. (Handwritten from my recliner in front of the
fireplace!)

Thanks for the insight!
Apple told us that the finger is more intuitive than the stylus.
But in my opinion the stylus is more intuitive than the keyboard too...
There are so many occasions when the keyboard is just plain wrong.
Just right now, for instance.
As you point out rightly, the ModBook doesn't limit you to pen input.
It actually adds pen input to the existing ModBook.
My Bluetooth Keyboard waits to be connected for text input...
(provided that the Bluetooth Bug is resolved).
Actually, my ModBook just made the hop from Louisville, US to Cologne,
Germany.
Just a little more than 500km or 310 miles to home sweet home.
I never owned a newton, but I had basic beginner table drawing pad for
quite some time now... Can't wait to try the ModBook now!
