Dear all,
Thank you so much for all your additions, the time you willingly put in and the effort to follow, start and maintain discussions in MobiMOOC this year.
I hope you did get some extra ideas out of it and that it offered some new insights. For me it was an wonderful learning experience. I know more about organizing, instructional design, technology and social interactions for motivation and support than before. I hope you had inspiring moments as well.
The webinars, course wiki and central discussion group (mobimooc2012) will be kept up for future reference. It would be good if they could become known Open Educational Resources for mLearning. As such, any ideas you might have are welcomed. I will keep you updated on possible plans from my end.
Some people have suggested ways to shift this course into more of a Community of Practitioners, or something long-term focusing on mLearning. I would love to see this happening, so I started thinking about this for the last few days.
Creating central resource spaces focusing on specific mLearning topics as Larry and others have proposed would be lovely. Dropbox was suggested, but also other options. I would suggest we start building out the course wiki and make it into an Open Educational Resource (OER) on mLearning.
This year MobiMOOC resulted in networks getting started or tightened, new insights into emerging mLearning developments, collaborations and partnerships to team up for projects and all sorts of exchanges which were – in my view – very enlightening and inspiring.
The alternative approach of MobiMOOC using the tree or branching approach had some positive, but also some negative results on the learner dynamic: on the positive side it generated a lot of content on different mLearning topics and it did get people thinking and debating. On the negative side the original idea that participants would choose one or two topics did not happen. Instead they choose to follow all the topics, resulting in less discussions due to time constraints. I had not anticipated this absorption overload, but … this idea got me thinking and gave rise to the idea of a ‘MobiMOOC knowledge sharing festival’.
The importance of having time to exchange ideas and information to enhance each other’s knowledge is so important for expert or experienced mLearner’s I want to set up a two week open floor for the MobiMOOC community somewhere in March 2013. No specific facilitators, only all of us coming together, exchanging what keeps us busy in the mLearning realm, and me as a master of ceremony to make life easy on all of us.
So what is next: a cool down period, enabling all of us to get on top of our regular work. If anyone feels up to it for adding topics/bookmarks/resources on one of the mentioned mLearning topics in MobiMOOC or other, let me know. That way those who want to can start adding resources that can be shared openly at all times, and specifically during the gathering in March.
MobiMOOC knowledge sharing festival, a two week online gathering scheduled in March 2013. Open to all (not sure which two weeks yet), with just one aim: getting us all into a conversation. A bit like a MOOG, Massive, Open, Online Gathering.
Best wishes and hoping to meet/see/hear you soon,
Inge

This was a really wonderful introduction to mobile learning on the global stage. Thanks to everyone who participated and, of course, to Inge who so brilliantly facillitated.
Next time any of you are in Ohio, please look me up!
Best,
Gary Greenberg
