*Subject:* SCORE erects balloons at proposed site

*_For Immediate Release_*

*Summerlanders were treated to an unusual site on Saturday when SCORE
(Summerland Citizens Opposed to Radiofrequency Emissions) erected a
bundle of balloons 25 meters in the air at the site of the proposed
microwave transmitter tower. Spokesperson Ava Hare said the group wanted
people in Summerland to see just how high the tower will be. After
hiking the hill, the group was surprised to find a guard at the top. Ava
said that they had no idea that telus had hired someone to stay around
the clock at the top of the hill. The security guard stopped them
immediately and told them they could not leave the balloons. This did
not deter the group and after being threatened by the guard with the
police, they decided to stay and wait. When the police did not appear,
they left the balloons tied to a tree. Vicki Lightfoot, one of the
hikers, said she felt like she was in a dictatorship. "When you're told
to leave public property and threatened with arrest, you gotta wonder
what kind of Government we have. We only wanted to make a peaceful
statement about how high and intrusive the proposed tower would be."*
