Hi,

I would like to know whether it is possible to configure Mobicents such that it accepts SIP connections on the JAIN SLEE side (using sip11 ra) and then to sends the calls out using SS7 through the SGW (using E1/T1 card)? I was trying to put it together and the part where I'm stuck is the transition from SIP to SS7, that is taking the SIP connection and routing it to a point code, is that at all possible?

Regards
Vic

Hello
Install ISUP RA and SIP RA on JSLEE and use http://www.quintillion.co.jp/3GPP/Specs/29163-920.pdf to translate call from/to ss7

Hi Yulian,

thanks for the references. In my understanding I would have to implement the 3GPP spec myself, together with the relevant messages and signalling that takes place between the nodes?

Hi,

I've got another scenario that I'd like to investigate: an SS7 voice call to Mobicents JSLEE container that gets directed to an Asterisk instance that does ISUP to SIP translation. I've been told that Asterisk is capable of doing ISUP to SIP (and the reverse) translation so that would remove the need for me to implement that 3GPP spec, all that would be required is to pass the call via ISUP from Mobicents JSLEE to Asterisk. Do you think this is a scenario that could work?

Hello
By my experience asterisk support of isup is very limited , and have problems so i dont think it can be used in production

If anyone has an implementation of the 3GPP spec (ie ISUP to SIP and vice versa), that would be a nice contribution so that the community avoid the need to reimplement each and every time !
