We are proud to announce the release of Mobicents Media Server (MMS) v2.0.0.BETA3

The focus of this release has been Video support and capability to play the ISO based media files (mpeg4, .3gp, .mov etc). Other new feature added is support for RTSP. With RTSP, now you can stream the audio/video directly to your player on demand.

However the biggest achievement with this release is support for SS7. MMS 2.0.0.BETA3 is already capable of MTP2 and MTP3 layers of SS7. To know more about SS7 capabilities and roadmap follow Mobicents Public Page http://groups.google.com/group/mobicents-public/web/mobicents-ss7-roadmap . The settings for SS7 is here http://groups.google.com/group/mobicents-public/web/mms-ss7-support. To know more look at README.txt packaged with binary.

The documentation shipped with binary will give further details.

The MMS 2.x.y can be either controlled using MGCP or JSR-309 implementation of Mobicents which finally uses MGCP to talk to Mobicents Media Server.

To understand how to use JSR-309 Impl with Sip Servlet look at JSR 309 Demo example available with latest Mobicents Sip Servlets Server release.
To understand how to use Mobicents Media Server with JAIN SLEE Server look at mgcp-demo and echo examples.

This is a GREAT release!! Kudos Oleg, Amit, Bartek, Vladimir and everyone else who helped out.

Each of the new major features warrants a blog entry to educate the community. These are truly amazing advancements that open up whole new application domains.

That should be Oleg, Amit and Bartek. Congrats guys!

IIRC my contribution to this realese was changing a single bit in some
mask :) but I will blog about it too. It was epic. And I personally am
a fan of the Video features. Hope to get that working with my phone.

JD there is already wiki for basic SS7 setup, its used by commnity as guide. once some more goals are completed, atlest one of us will blog. It should not be long, since its priority now.

Jut tried rtsp:// request from my phone over wifi to MMS. All RTSP request went fine but playing failed with unsupported resolution. Then I copied the .mp4 video (recorded) from phone itself to MMS and tried, but this time parsing failed :(

Will fix this up. It will be really nice to have video streamed to Mobiles directly

Amit, you have to prepare video file first instead of try to stream everything :)

I want to say that you need convert source file to format (size, resolution, codec, etc) capable with your device using some converter. Then you can stream.
