The fourth annual conference of the Minnesota STEM Network will feature a keynote by Linda Rosen, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Change the Equation. Change the Equation (CTEq) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, CEO-led initiative that is mobilizing the business community to improve the quality of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning in the United States. Since its launch in September 2010, CTEq has helped its more than 100 members connect and align their philanthropic and advocacy efforts in STEM education and workforce development.
Last fall, CTEq released its second edition of the Vital Signs. Vital Signs are capsule summaries of STEM workforce needs, student achievement in math and science, rigor of state standards and levels of proficiencies, teacher preparedness, and availability of resources for each state. The conference will also feature 35 breakout sessions on exemplary practices in STEM programming or collaborations in Minnesota. The breakout tracks will be themed according to the five goals of the network:
- Build awareness and excitement for STEM
- Increase engagement and collaboration across sectors
- Promote effective STEM teaching and learning
- Close the STEM achievement gap
- Increase the number of students choosing STEM as a career opportunityThe Minnesota STEM Network is an initiative of SciMathMN.

Conference fees: Attendance in St. Paul - $59. Participation via live webcast - $25.

Sessions: The conference will also feature breakout sessions on exemplary STEM programming or collaborations from across Minnesota. The breakout periods are themed according to the five goals of the network.
Location: The conference will be held on the third floor of Coeur de Catherine, the student center of St. Catherine University. Coeur de Catherine (building #8 on campus map) is located between the Recreation Center and the Chapel. Parking is free in the O'Shaughnessy lot or the south side of Randolph Avenue.Webcast: If it isn't possible to travel to St. Paul for the conference, consider registering to participate via webcast. The full description of sessions (download from the mnstemnet webpage) identifies sessions which will be webcast. Note that a high-speed internet connection (a 1.5 DSL service minimum), wired connection or strong wireless connection, and a Silverlight plug-in are necessary to display the webcast. By registering for webcast participation you can view one or more conference sessions throughout the day. Online webcast registrants will receive an email a few days before the conference guiding them through a test connection to the Panopto server. URLs for individual sessions will be forwarded to webcast registrants in advance of the conference.
