It seems there is a lot of confusion when people try to post a photo to
this website. I was confused too and Steve helped me out. First, you
can not enclose a photo in a reply you must reply with an email if you
want to include a photo. This is the method that seems to work, and
anybody, please correct me if I am wrong, or if you have a better way.

1. Open your email program and write your message body.

2. enclose your photo or photos as an attachment to the email. Keep
them small, under 1 meg. Be sure the photos you are enclosing are on
your hard drive, You can not copy from your web based photo site. (easy
way to grab a photo from your web based site is to right click the
photo, copy it, paste it into a temp file on your hard drive) Then
attach The photo that is on your local drive to the email.

3. Address the email to this group: mnp...@googlegroups.com

4. To get the email to post into the correct topic (To Crop or not to
Crop, Favorite Minnesota images, trying a photo email, etc.) put the
exact topic name into the subject line of your email. Use Copy and
Paste to paste the topic name into the subject line of the email so
that you get it exactly right.

5. Send your email.

6. Good Luck,, Randy

I'd like to add that I believe the e-mail needs to be sent from your
g-mail account. I had a couple test messages sent from my personal
e-mail account bounce back to me as unauthorized until setting up
another account in my e-mail program using my g-mail address.

It needs to be sent from the email address your Google Groups account is
registered with, usually that's gmail, but not always.

Thanks, Randy, for the write-up. I know it's not a completely intuitive
way of posting photos, but it is nice that we have the ability to
attach images when you can't host your own. Links will always work if
you don't want to do the attachment thing too.

If anyone has problems with posting or their account, let me know. I
can change your membership settings or remove duplicate accounts if
you're having trouble.

That would explain my problem. In our department, there was some server
upheaval (political science has its own domain) so I receive mail with
one address and send with another, and unfortunately, the one I send
with is no longer the one I registered with.

Justin, you could register again with the address you send with and
either keep the original subscription to receive or unsubscribe it.

Thanks for the tip. I may just get a gmail account too. Might be better
for the NGs as is. I had a student in one of my classes last year run
down my email and looking up my usenet postings. Nothing bad there,
mind you, but it was a weird feeling.
