Not sure who your target audience is with this, but you're not going to rile
up too many people here in Minnesota with that. Though you might learn
something if Craig Finseth is still lurking around this newsgroup... he's
pretty much able to cut through all the pseudoscience and get to the real
science and stuff.
He is telling us that on a trip through Duluth Minnesota he noticed
people surfing on Lake Superior in this lovely month of October.
Duluth as a surf destination is a newer concept.
Was it surfing, or was it smelt fishing? Both activities can look
about the same from a distance.

I'm still here and posting regularly. I couldn't find anything in the

Not really. I recall people surfing there in the '60s. Hang gliding,
too (Skyline Parkway west of 24th Ave W): I wished I had the nerve to
try it.
For surfing, the waves get large enough quite often. Normally,
however, that is in the middle of a November gale...not recommended
surfing weather.
