This type of "sky is falling" talk is probably the best indicator
that the economy is improving. In fact, if you want to predict
an economic boom, just watch for the Republican loonies to predict
hyper-inflation and the number of buy gold commercials to spike
upwards.
You also have to wonder about the credibility of anyone who
claims to see anything coming in the future. After all, the
biggest news event of our lifetime was predicted by exactly
zero psychics. If none of these so-called psychics saw 9/11
coming, then how can we take anything that they say with any
level of credibility?

How often do you bet your hunches? Are you rich yet?

You be sure to do that.

In this case you are right. Those who quote Nostra-dumbass and the
like are pretty much silent when it comes to 9/11.
It's like telekinesis -- if those shows about people moving pencils
with their mind are true, then why can't the same people telekinese a
slot machine to pay out $$ for them?
If I had the capability to make slot machines
pay off using psychokinesis, I wouldn't be
going on TV to tell you about it.
The downside to making a living off of slots
would be living in Vegas. There's no snow or
ice, and the women are often indecently clad.

I'm... just not seeing the downside in that.
The hoped for response was an "LOL".
I don't know, I like my snow and ice. But I'm missing the drawback on the
third one.
But *Vegas*? Eww.
Well, naked is certainly nice, but *getting* naked can be a lot of fun,
too. :-) Everyone is an "exotic dancer" these days because they no
longer wear enough to strip off, and that's kind of sad.

Yes, it's called the bankruptcy of The United States of America and it will be
the fault of the progressives that took us to this point. If it leads to a
complete collapse of the world economy, then you better know how to use a gun
and where to get food. It sounds dire, but there are 6 billion people on this
planet all demanding food from a distribution system closely connected to the
large economies of the world and if they faulter than a lot of people starve.
The Chinese have the ability to take us out within ONE YEAR if they want to
[although it will damage them as well]. Simple, demand that the US pay a
large percentage on future short term loans (in other words, they won't buy
our treasure bonds under the current interest terms). The U.S. reaction would
be to attempt to borrow from others, but nobody will loan us money if the USD
was suddenly inflated [which it would be] and thus we would just print more
money without any backing what-so-ever which leads directly to economic
collapse.
All the bills that are being forced through congress at record speed ARE
PROGRESSIVE AGENDA and WILL NOT do our country any good in the short term or
the long term and may have devestating effects if another nation decides to
call in our all our outstanding short-term debt (which is already in the
trillions of dollars to China alone!). We simply can not afford it, not
matter what spin the politicians are putting on all this bull shit. The
problem is with BOTH parties, but right now, the Democrats are pulling out all
their spades while they have them in their hand and they are doozies. If this
continues, the days of the United States as an economic or even military super
power are soon to pass.

Religion is a crutch, but that's okay... humanity is a cripple.
Totally agree - but indecently clad does not necessarily mean naked :-)

So why worry about it? First off, it is unlikely to happen. People have
predicted the downfall of the economy every year of my life. Even the
massive Republican fraud of the past 8 years couldn't take the US down
despite Bush & Cheney's best shot. Second, if the Chinese do what you
say is possible, the US could simply declare the national debt to be
null and void. Problem solved. If there is a collapse, and people need
to have guns to survive, there are going to be large groups of people
with far larger guns than what you might have. And even they will have
a problem when the food runs out because you cannot grow corn with a
gun. I can only worry about problems that I can do something about.

I had to laugh at the post you responded to; so many weird
assumptions. But this the sort of nonsense folks get to when Fox
becomes just to darn liberal for their tastes.
If the Chinese pulled any sort of financial threat we could just pull
a real goods threat--embargo China. The leadership there lives on the
edge of an unemployment and GNP growth sword. The only way they're
staving off revolution is with cheap consumer goods, sweatshop
industry jobs, and a promise to move some of the huge younger
generation (full of males who have no chance of wives thanks to the
one-child policy) off interior farms and into the coastal cities where
there is at least a bit of nightlife and worldly pleasures.
I think we could live without their exports longer than they could
live with their own internal contradictions.
Steve
The deficit spending for ALL previous administrations in US History aren't
even close to what this current administration has planned. Let's get
ourselves out of our debt riddled financial situation by spending trillions
more ... "trust me, it will work" .... yeah, right.

You really are not so naive are you? Can you do that to your bank? No, not
unless you declare bankruptcy in which case MANY MANY countries would cease
for many years to touch an American dollar; prices would sky rocket due to our
worthless cash [nobody wants it if it is no longer worth anything ... it was
backed by debt and thus the promise to pay it back with real dollars (i.e.
work)], so we would find ourselves in the midst an instant credit crunch at
all levels (since banks don't have vaults filled with gold or other prescious
commodities, they would all go under). If the U.S. just started printing
money that simply devalues the rest of the money which is already been
declared largely worthless or greatly devalued and leads directly to the point
the Germans hit near the end of the Weimar Republic. So, you are completely
and utterly incorrect; it solves no problems, but creates many and severe
problems at that.

You failed to see my point. I don't think we are going to collapse back into
the pre-industrial age [which could happen in an extreme circumstance, but
reason or violence would eventually befall our addlebrained rulers likely
avoiding a complete break-down], but my point is that if we leave our
politicians doing exactly what they are and have been doing then we will hit
that point .... they are just waiting for somebody to stop them [and nobody
is]. Deferring the problem only makes it worse. It is sort of like knowing
your are sick but refusing to go to the doctor because you know you won't like
what he is going to tell you is the problem and how to fix it, so instead, our
politicians just look ahead far enough to get relected. The "wise" democrats
know now that many of their heads are on the chopping block thanks to pushing
this health care plan through in spite of public opinion and calls to
congress. If we put term limits on congress I think we would go a long way
towards removing "career politicians" holding a single seat and maintaining
power simply by earmarks and the ability to gather money [which is just about
all that is required to win congressional seats these days].
My prediction is that 2010 will turn over the house very similar to what
happened under Clinton and I believe there is a very good chance that Obama is
done in 2012 with another turn over in the Senate. Moving the entire
government to the Republican will fair us no better except the spending will
be slower [so, given a choice of evils ...]. I seriously hope that real
non-partisan candidates stand up for congressional jobs and for President and
we abolish the two party system once and for all and destroy earmarks and
other lobbying influence. Don't you love it that the very companies the FDA
and USDA regulate are filled with people that used to work for these very
companies? It is that kind of thing that MUST STOP.
I am loath to say it, but if all of congress and the presidency [and his
cabinet] were to disappear into the ether in an instant, I believe this
country would be much better off. Has nobody learned anything from George
Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, etc?
Sure, but when it comes down to tiny pieces of fabric that cover only
the most "indecent" areas (although I've never understood why a nipple
on a woman is more racy than a nipple on a man), does the distinction
between naked and not naked really mean much? Do a Google image search
for "micro bikini" and you can't help but think how foolishly
puritanical some people are to go to that length to "cover up" body
parts.
