Text messages on iMac, iPad or iPhone.

I know I can send texts from my iMac and iPad and iPhone, but only to other Apple devices.

Is there a way to send from an iPad? It has a phone number but it doesn't work for 'ordinary ' text message, ie to non-Apple devices.

I can send to and receive from non Apple devices from my iPad and Mac. In the Messages settings on the iPad have you checked send and receive from multiple addresses? That’s all i can think of that might help.
