Hi all

I'm not sure if this would interest anyone, but I'm hoping to do it again in the future, but for any users of Google Wave, you may like to have a look at the wave I created for tonights meeting in Solihull.
I have jotted down some brief notes about what we saw, as well as some links to sites and resources mentioned.
To access it, log in to Wave (if you have an account already) and search for "with:public mmug" minus the quotes. This should take you to the correct wave. From here you can edit, add to and reply to any of the text I have put in already.

As I said, it could be a useful tool for documenting stuff mentioned during sessions, asking follow up questions, adding your own notes, links, software suggestions, etc, and keeping it neat and well organised.

See you all again next month

Dom

Hi Dom

This sounds really interesting, but I see you need to be invited to use Google Wave. Can anyone send an invite to me?

Thanks

Chris

Hey All

In a follow up to this month's MMUG session in Solihull, The Unofficial Apple Weblog have also done a post about setting up a Mac Mini Server. Worth a read if you're curious or interested

Don McAllister has just done a couple of episodes on ScreencastsOnline
about Snow Leopard server as well. Worth a watch if you are a member.

The Apple online seminars are pretty good too.

The server videos are in the Enterprise section.

Does anyone have the core duo iMac? I am trying to find a copy of the
install DVD for a friend. If anyone can loan me theirs I can copy it and let
them have it back almost immediately.

Regards,

Pete

I'm in a similar dilemma, I have a Mac Mini and no system disk. It's
running perfectly BUT if I have a problem I won't be able to start it
from a System disk, so I need a System disk with disk tools on it. I
DON'T need the full install, any help would elicit pecuniary
recompense !
The Mac Mini is :-
Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MM21.009A.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.19f2

01827704110 or 07816872166 will be responded to instantly.

Your best bet might be to get hold of a Snow Leopard or Leopard installer disk. The SL one is cheaper(I know what the EULA says, but you can do a clean install from it). If the Mac is capable of running it, then the DVD has all the drivers it needs. The retail iLife DVD is also not protected..Or, you might even be able to get a replacement disk from Apple if you ask nicely at the Genius bar.

Or e-bay might be worth a look. Good luck anyway.

It's not needed for an OS install, it's needed because the iMac has started
to do some very weird things, and AppleCare want the owner to run hardware
tests from the install DVD, which he's lost.

Apple Hardware Test (AHT) started to get built in with certain Intel hardware. Try holding D on boot & it may run it if it is available.
You can use Mactracker to find out the spec of the machine & it also says what version of AHT is used. From there Google will be your friend, unless anyone is feeling charitable?
