Dear All,

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like the below following an upgrade to version 1.7 of EFI (installed by Software Update).

*Mail and Safari in particular beachballing a lot of the time, and entering an unresponsive state
*More heat being produced by the machine (probably as a consequence). Apart from the spike I have mentioned before, I have been steady at around 60 C, now with just a few apps open I can easily climb to between 75-85 C
*Internet slower
*Finder slower

I have tried to reset the PRAM but that's had no positive effect whatsoever.

13" MBP

Something else may be going on and I'd like to eliminate probable causes, so any responses gratefully received. If the EFI update has been a problem for others, I can take this to Apple with more confidence.

Thanks a lot,

MikeM

Get istat menus. Free.
How hot it gets depends on how hard it's working but it it gets to boiling point you've got a problem!

My iMacs get up to 80 when they're doing things like rendering movies. You'll hear the fans kick in

And Macbooks get hot. Only just bearable on lap sometimes-but maybe I have sensitive knees...
